Amazing location, close to very good restaurants and central to Old Montreal
Well situated, close to attractions, restaurants and transportation, and it was clean
So close to the downtown, 10 minutes on foot. It's very close to Modavie with nice drinks and cocktails. It was worth its 4 stars.
It's a superior place with great service and staff. The hotel is located adjacent to many restaurants and cafes. We were changed to a suite, which made our stay fantastic!
Lovely place, you know. Views from the rooftop terrace were great. Incredibly helpful staff. Easy access to Montreal/St-Hubert airport, within 20 km. The service was friendly too.
Many things to recommend this hotel: view of the twice weekly fireworks from the terrace bar; close location to Old Montreal; good advice on dining from Concierge; but my favorite part of the hotel was the bathroom. Finally, a hotel bathroom with sufficient shelf space!
My favorite hotel in Old Montreal...for business and leisure for location, convenience, proximity to old and new Montreal. I upgraded my room for a minimal cost so I could be in a room on the more spacious side of their lot. The spa within hotel makes the stay even more convenient and lux!
Hotel is great! Construction in the city is always ongoing so noise might be an issue for some; but not the hotel's issue.
The hotel was quiet and very comfortable - we were in building #3. It was in a great location - not too close to activity yet easy access to the Old Port of Montreal and the city. We enjoyed especially the food in Studio 701! The most amazing french fries and Kobe burger and steak which spoiled us for dining anywhere else in Montreal! The bed and pillows/bedding were wonderful and very comfortable. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony in the evenings after a day of walking all over Montreal!!
We love Old Montreal and alking aorund the old city is a real pleasure. Our room was fabulous.
No complaint - but a tea kettle would be nice to be able to make a morning drink.
We were given a complimentary upgrade to a penthouse suite which started things well. However during the evening a water leak occurred immediately outside our room and caused a problem for us to stay in the room so around midnight we were moved to another room and when checking out next day found that we were not charged for our evening meal or breakfast, which was a generous compensatory gesture on the part of the hotel.
I think brighter reading lights by the bed would have been desirable, but had noticed that dim lighting was quite usual in montreal hotels ( we stayed in four during our trip.)
The staff was very friendly. The location in Old Montreal was fantastic! You can walk everywhere and see so many beautiful buildings, cafe's, restaurants, and sites. The hotel bars were always busy with a fun vibe. The hotel restaurant was great and even room service was tasty. We had an electric fireplace in our room, which was romantic to have. And the bear claw type tub was very relaxing and fun to use. The room had pay per view movies with great selections. Which is fantastic to have if it is cold and you get rained in like my husband and I did one day of our trip. The mini bar selection was great too! I would stay at Hotel Place D'Armes again, and I would recommend the hotel to anyone going to Montreal.
The hotel was great; however, being that I live in the usa and am used to having ice available, the hotel does not have ice machines open to the public. We had to call the front desk and ask for ice to be delivered to the room if room service was closed. And yes, Room Service does close around 11:00 pm. So, if you have a late night out and come back to your room and need food you are out of luck. We bought some snacks but it would have been nice to be able to order some real food from Room Service. Otherwise, the hotel would have been 100% perfect.
The rooms were spacious, the shower good
I asked for a quiet room and was given one opposite the lifts and on the floor immediately above the bar/disco. I asked if it would be noisy and was assured it was not but this was not true. I was very disappointed my request was ignored. Fortunately they found me another room on the second night after I complained
We really enjoyed our stay in Montreal. The hotel was an "American friendly" clean, convienient and beautiful location in the heart of Old Montreal.
We would like to have at least an electric water kettle in the room for coffee or other hot beverages.
My husband and I were overwhelmed with joy with so many positives the Hotel Place D'Armes offered. From their welcoming and friendly staff, to the unending pursuit to make our stay luxurious, we really had a hard time leaving. Never having been to the city before, and speaking some broken French, the staff helped guide us to everything from funky shopping and an amazing steakhouse to a pizza joint around the corner. Our 4 day stay was too short. Oh, we also took the hotel up on a $20 upgrade to a junior, 2-level suite. We also had a massage at RainSpa--something I highly recommend! Fantastic :)
